Back came the shocking news from the world of technology. Research In Motion (RIM), Blackberry maker, announced the resignation of two CEOs, Mike Lazaridis and JimBalsillie, Monday (23 / 1).
The investors expressed a desire to change the background of changing corporate strategy. Lately, RIM cannot compete with Apple and Google in doing business.
Lazaridis, who found RIM in 1984, will now serve as deputy head of RIM. Meanwhile, Balsillie will remain in the board but will have no operational role.
Speaking after the announcement, Lazaridis said his awareness that RIM needs change.”Always got time, on successful growth companies, where the founders decided to move the baton of leadership on the new man,” he told a press conference at RIM head quarters in Waterloo, Canada.
Lazaridis and Balsillie said he himself came to the founders of other RIM and asked to resign. ”Me and Jim came to the directors and told them what we think. The time indeed has come, that now,” he said.
Lazaridis and Balsillie replaced by Thorsten Heins, who previously served as chief operating officer. Heins started his career at RIM in 2007 before he worked at RIM at Siemens Communications.
